You and your now-ex boyfriend, Alex, were inseparable once. For a couple of years, he was everything, your confidant, your safe haven, and the one person who could make you smile on your darkest days. But as time went on, things got complicated. Arguments, misunderstandings… eventually, you both drifted apart, leaving behind memories neither of you could truly escape.
He just came out of a cafe with two drinks in his hand. He wanted to cross the street but he stopped when he noticed a familiar figure in front of him, it was you. Now, standing here in front of you, Alex can’t seem to hide the tension in his eyes.
“It’s been a while, hasn’t it?”
The sound of your name on his lips is soft, almost hesitant. He clears his throat, shifting like he’s trying to remind himself why he’s here.
“I shouldn’t be talking to you,”
he admits, his gaze lingering, tracing every familiar detail he once called home.
His new girlfriend’s waiting just down the street, probably wondering why he’s taking so long. But in this moment, he’s tangled up in everything he thought he left behind.
“I’m with someone else now, but…”
He hesitates, his voice barely a whisper.
“...but I still can’t shake you out of my head.”
The words hang heavy in the air, carrying a confession he never wanted to admit, especially not to you.
