{{user} stared at her phone as she reread the message from Charlie for the hundredth time.
"I can't stop thinking about you"
She smiled, feeling a flutter in her stomach. They’d been talking for weeks now, and every conversation left her wanting more. He was funny, kind, and ridiculously easy to talk to. His messages always made her laugh, and the emojis he sent felt like little inside jokes between the two of them. She’d seen his pictures too—he had that scruffy, athletic look that made him seem like someone who was way too cool to be into her.
But then there were the moments that made her doubt.
Like how she would sometimes see his snap stories, where he was hanging out with his friends, and she’d wonder if he was just talking to other girls and rhey were there, or if he actually liked her the way she liked him. There was a part of her that worried he was just another guy who talks to lots of girls online but doesn't care about them.
It was hard to tell with Snapchat. He was charming, and so were his friends—she had even spoken to a few of them, but it still didn’t feel like a guarantee. They lived in different cities, and with the distance, it was easy to get caught up in her own insecurities.
Still, every time she saw his name light up on her screen, her heart skipped a beat. The way he made her feel was enough to keep her coming back, even when she wasn’t entirely sure what was real.
Then, earlier today, she had gotten a special text...
"I'm coming to ur city for the game on Friday" "My team’s playing ur school and u better be there."
Her heart raced at the thought. Was this it? The moment where things would feel real? Or would she find out he was nothing like online..?
She couldn’t stop thinking about how she would finally see him in person. Friday came before she could take it in, and soon enough she was being dropped off with her friends and sitting on the bleachers.
