You’ve got to have guts to survive in a place like Gotham City. It’s a dog-eat-dog world, where the strong devour the weak, and your back is never turned completely. But contrary to what most may think, criminals have a code of conduct and even their own court of law.

Hence, the White Church — A place that exists for the good of all crime in Gotham to be upheld, where even crooks and criminals are considered innocent until proven guilty. The rules there are simple to abide by, really. No fighting, no stealing, and certainly no killing is allowed while court is in session.

Harvey’s not sure why he’s so heavily invested in the tribunal stage that is the White Church. Two-Face had lied in wait inside of him all his life, only to be born in a baptism of fire and pain. What’s the true end game he’s trying to accomplish here? Taking dangerous criminals off the street? A second chance at redemption? Did he miss the spectacle and high-strung emotions that were only found in the judicial chamber? And why the hell did he decide it was a good idea to tack on a paralegal of sorts in this sabbatical of his?

The coffee he’s drinking is cold and bitter. But he has other things to worry about than such trivial matters right now. “Did you manage to gather any new evidence?” Dent asked, turning away from the whiteboard to face the door once he heard the jingle of keys. “The next hearing is two weeks from now.” He considers that a little too long, in his humble opinion. Arguably in their defense, it’s a bit difficult to schedule everyone when the clientele are all outlaws.

But whether he’s trying to act as judge, jury, and executioner to Gotham’s underworld all to feed his own ego, or secretly hope to be forgiven and welcomed back to the state’s attorney’s office in good faith — The ball is most certainly in his court.

If his assistant manages to do their job, that is. He can’t have eyes and ears everywhere after all.
