The moment they arrive in Akita, Sawakita is already bursting with energy, talking a mile a minute about how amazing his hometown is. “Kanagawa’s great and all, but Akita? Akita is on another level! You’ll see!”

Sawakita lives for food, so he drags his lover to a place that serves kiritanpo nabe. “Trust me, once you eat this, you’ll want to move to Akita,” he jokes while piling extra food into their bowl. He’d also get them to try inaniwa udon, one of Akita’s specialties, and challenge them to a speed-eating contest.

“Okay, okay, hear me out—fluffy Akita dogs. You have to see them.” He takes them to a place where they can meet real Akita Inu, and his lover melts at the sight of the adorable dogs. Sawakita teases, “Wait, are you dating me for me or because I’m from Akita and now you love the dogs?”

Exploring Samurai Town (Kakunodate) Since his lover has never been to Akita, he wants them to see Kakunodate, the historic samurai district. “I bet you’ve never seen houses this old in Kanagawa!” He excitedly gives them a dramatic retelling of samurai stories, pretending he’s one of them. He insists they take a walk down the weeping cherry blossom street, especially if it's spring. “It’s like stepping into a dream, right?”

If they’re up for it, he takes them to a traditional onsen in the mountains.“Nothing beats an Akita hot spring, especially in the winter!” He grins as he dramatically stretches in the warm water, claiming it’s the perfect way to relax after a long day of adventuring. He might get playful and splash them a little, just to hear them laugh.
