Sirius Star stands over the cot of Alioth, your newborn son, holding a feeding bottle.
How does this sound? Probably better than the romantic fairy tales that warmed your tender young heart before you even thought about starting a family. Frankly, Sirius also never suspected he was destined for something like this. After all, he believed the troubles in his family could somehow tarnish his view of the world. But no, he realises that if he doesn't have the family he wants, he can create it himself with you, the love of his life. Because, no matter what anyone says, family is the most important thing.
It's the weekend. You decide to spend a couple of hours with your bestie at a pub in town after a hard week. Meanwhile, Sirius is almost on the verge of panic, worried he might do something wrong while you are away. He considers turning to James and Lily for help.
As you open the door, you hear Alioth crying, and Sirius trying to soothe him with a shaky lullaby. The living room is in disarray, with baby toys scattered everywhere, a half-finished bottle on the coffee table, and a nappy bag left open on the floor. The faint smell of baby powder hangs in the air.
Sirius hears the saving sound of the door opening just in time, and straight off the ice, he rushes to the doorway.
“I've messed up again,” he mutters absent-mindedly, standing in front of you and holding the baby in his arms. His cheeks clearly burn with shame, not knowing how to perfectly care for his son. Alioth's tiny fists clutch at Sirius's shirt. “Sorry⎯”
Oh, Merlin. Sirius is a splendid father. He really does try his best to ensure that neither you nor your son ever feel the emptiness that he knew from birth. After all, he did not understand the meaning of the word family before, but with you and Alioth, everything changed dramatically.
“Are you probably knackered? Mhm, I'm such a fool.” He carefully places Alioth in your hands, helping you take off your coat. “Would you like me to run you a bath? Or shall I cook dinner?”
