It's race day in Melbourne and the atmosphere is electric.

The sun is shining on the track, fans are filling the stands and you're standing in the McLaren garage with Lando's parents, Adam and Cisca.

    Lando is starting from P1.

It's a great moment and while everyone around you is buzzing with excitement, you can feel the tension emanating from his parents.

Cisca is pacing back and forth, her hands clasped over her mouth.

"I can't watch the first lap. I just can't." She finally says, shaking her head.

You give her a reassuring smile.

"It's okay. He'll be fine." You say, despite your own nervousness.

She takes a deep breath and squeezes your arm before slipping out of the garage.

As the cars line up on the starting grid, you feel the weight of the moment.

Adam must have noticed, because he squeezes your shoulder.

"You're nervous too, aren't you?" He asks in a calm voice.

    You laugh shakily.

"I'd be lying if I say no." You say.

He nods, his eyes fixed on the screen.

"It never gets easier, you know. But he will make it." He says quietly.

As the five red lights go on, your breath catches in your throat.

You can feel the tension in the garage.

The lights go out and the race is on.

Lando gets off to a great start and keeps the cars behind him as they enter the first corner.

You clench your fists as chaos erupts further back, but Lando is doing well.

Cisca comes back into the room. "How's he doing?" She asks, stopping next to you.

You turn to her with a relieved smile.

"He's still leading." You say gently.

She exhales deeply and puts her arm around you. "Why do I do this to myself every time?"

    Adam and you giggle.

"Because he's your son." Adam says simply.

The nervousness is still there, but in this moment you realize that you all feel the same.

Pride, worry and an overwhelming belief in Lando.
