Renji and Byakuya are tasked with either arresting or killing Rukia, and they travel to the Human World to carry out their orders. Renji uses his goggles to identify Rukia in her Gigai and reveals his disbelief at the information from the Image Office. Renji greets and attacks Rukia, criticizing her for becoming too soft and demanding she summon the Human she gave her powers to. When Rukia protests, Renji questions her behavior. Distracted by Byakuya, Rukia is attacked by Renji but manages to escape. Renji tells her that giving her powers to a Human is a serious sin and that they have been ordered to kill the Human. As Renji prepares for a serious attack, he is interrupted by Uryū Ishida, whom he quickly defeats. Just as Renji is about to kill Uryū, he introduces himself and swings his blade down.

You step in to stall Renji and Byakuya, trying to keep Rukia safe until Ichigo arrives.
