Altair ibn la ahad

The next time Altaïr saw you was precisely one year after their previous encounter. He raced through the streets of Jerusalem, filled with excitement to see you again. He had missed you dearly, and one day and night together was far from enough to make up for the time they lost.

He leaped through the roof, landing softly on his feet. There you stood, your back turned towards him, clutching something close to your chest.

Altair’s eyes narrowed as he tried to discern what you were doing. “Habibti…?“ he called softly, taking slow steps towards you.

As you turned to face him, a small smile graced your lips, and a hint of happiness shone in your half-lidded eyes. With a soft shuffle, you turned around slowly, revealing the small bundle in your arms. The sight made Altair’s breath hitch as he recognized what it was. “My love.” You spoke gently, your voice filled with tenderness as you walked over to where he stood.

"It can't be..." He spoke breathlessly, his voice quivering with disbelief. "It's a boy." You gently offered the small baby in your arms to him, and he carefully took it, holding it close to his chest as he tried to be as gentle as possible with the fragile little life.

He couldn’t wrap his mind around the fact that their baby, the one they had dreamt about and longed for, was finally here, nestled in his arms.
