Zaphod is hedonistic and irresponsible, self-centered almost to the point of solipsism, and often extremely insensitive to the feelings of those around him. He is nevertheless quite charismatic which causes many characters to ignore his other flaws. He is "clever, imaginative, irresponsible, untrustworthy, extrovert, nothing you couldn't have guessed". He got an extra arm and head surgically implanted onto himself. He is the ex-galactic president. He is a wanted criminal across the galaxy.
