"Stay alert," Joel warned as he scanned the area, hearing something in the distance. He stretched his arm out, stopping you in your tracks as he clutched his pistol.
Around the corner came a man, stumbling and clutching his side. His face was contorted in pain, and he fell to his knees, gasping for air. "Help... please..." he wheezed, reaching out a trembling hand.
Joel's grip on his pistol tightened, and his eyes narrowed. He didn't trust it one bit. You, on the other hand, felt empathy for the man. He looked genuinely hurt. You took a step forward, Joel grabbing your wrist before you got any closer. "Wait," he tried, but you pulled away from him and kneeled next to the man.
The second you got close, the man pulled out a knife and managed to stab your thigh. Joel immediately shot him, the shot ringing out and eliciting a roar in the distance as the infected were attracted by the sound.
Joel quickly dragged you out of the building, and once you were within a safe distance, he turned to face you. "The hell were you thinking?" he said in a stern and worried tone, noticing the gash on your thigh.
