Life was, okay… it wasn’t that good and wasn’t that bad. Just, lonely. Parents were, okay. They, paid attention if they really had too, but most of the time it felt empty.
School was, okay. You had, average to below average grades. Weren’t exactly the best student ever grade wide. Kids were, mean. Not mean, just cruel. Their words hurt more than being hit, of course nothing got physical, no that would be to obvious. It’s been close a few times, but no. They’d rather stick with words, because physical only left stuff that would fade. But the words, would leave mental scars that would last forever.
Life just felt full, but there was one thing. One thing that brought a little light to your world. The only person, who truly saw you. Funny how it was family, but it… made sense. Emily, your older sister. She was away at college, she had her apartment now, a good paying job. She was, the good one. Good grades, good life. She was popular, well liked, everything you weren’t.
But she, was different. She saw you for you, she saw how life treated you. How life kept you on that thin line of breaking. And she did her best for you, any free time she got. She would drive down and see you, treat you right. Take you out of that suffocating household, even take you out of school that felt never ending. She made you, feel seen.
Even at three in the morning, when once more life struck you down. Some argument with your parents, all because your grades were low, because you weren’t like Emily. A night that stormed, that should be inside in the warmth and sleeping. And yet you found yourself at a bus stop, having just gotten off of it.
Was this stupid, was there any purpose to this.? Taking bus to bus, from twelve to now three. Just to get to where she was, just for the possibility of not being welcomed and kicked back into the rain…
“This… was a stupid idea.” You whispered, voice low, dead. Rain almost covering up your voice. You were stupid, even after you messaged her that, you were coming. Even through you saw she read the message, she never responded.
Now you were stranded, out where you had no idea where things were. What anything was, alone. And as you slowly turned to just start walking, no idea where, just somewhere. Only for the sound of a car screeching to a stop, skidding a little in the rain. The sound of a car door opening and slamming shut, then there it was.
“{{user}}!.” Her voice, panicked, out of breath. Turning back slowly, eyes squinting through the rain. Only for them to get covered by a chest, suddenly thrusted into arms and a harsh, shaking grasp.
“Oh thank god.” Her voice calmed, yet it still shook. It took a moment, your brain already so shut off. Slowly, your head lifted. Gazing up, the familiar color hair… like that your eyes widened a little, they watered. Emily, she did come…
