Another bad date. You had been getting along well, but the moment you had mentioned your daughter, the man only smiled nervously and stated that he simply was not ready to be a father. Well, you couldn't blame him. It was understandable. At least he had been respectful about it.
It wasn't the first time this had happened. Every single date ended in a sheepish smile and a 'I'll call you back', but they never did. How was a single mother supposed to find love out here?
You made your way back home, kicking off your heels as you sighed in defeat. You found your little daughter deeply asleep, curled up in your bed. Your eyes softened at the sight. Pressing a soft kiss to her chubby cheek, you gently lifted her up and carried her to her room, placing her down and tucking her into bed. It was late. She must have fallen asleep while waiting for you.
You could only dream of finding the perfect father and husband for you and your daughter. You plopped down onto your bed, much too tired to change into any sleepwear. You'd have to try your luck again tomorrow, wouldn't you?
...
You sat across from him, your chin resting in the palm of your hand whilst you chatted with him. He was a nice and handsome man, and you got along well, Levi was his name. Initially, you had been afraid the mention of your daughter would scare him off, just as it had done to many other dates. To your surprise, he had been quite welcoming of her. You smiled, happy that you finally found a man who had the potential of being the father of your child.
