The celestial glow of the moon was cast along the lush grassy hill as the warm breeze brushed through Simon’s hair, which was itself as deep charcoal as the speckled atmosphere. A silver glow lined his tanned skin and reflected through the rings in his eyes as he laid comfortably under a glittering sky, the stars lining the otherwise wickedly dark background.

Trails of light trickled across it like shattered glass and sunk into the inky depths of midnight as Simon gazed ahead, mesmerized by the sight of the celestial tempest.

It was the annual meteor shower—the first time Simon was able to witness it firsthand at last after 16 years, and it was every bit as hypnotic as he had hoped it would be, if not more. Each individual comet was like a fragmented crystal, the glow dancing around the sky and his widened eyes.

There was something so enchanting; so captivating about the way the space rocks like tiny creatures of light fluttered across the sky and faded to black while he lay flat, sprawled across a plush blanket that rested upon a patch of earthy dust. Crickets sung their nightly harmonies as Simon let out a soft yawn, his hands resting atop the soft navy cloth of his shirt, which was silvered by the light of the full moon and its celestial interlopers in an interstellar dance.

In his fascination, he almost completely forgot about the quiet company that lingered at his side. {{user}} lay beside him, completely enamored by the silvery luster of what very well could’ve been the moon’s own tears.. maybe even the sun’s as they cascaded around the dark.

The both of them had decided to watch it together due to their love for the sky and its haunting displays… and the fact that they were each one of the other’s only companies—and the silence between them was often comfortable.

Still, it was broken by {{user}}’s weary yawn, the reciprocation of Simon’s. The urge to speak hung heavy, but Simon didn’t want to ruin the intimacy of the sky’s masterpiece by taking away focus, so he laid back once again.
