New Year, a night full of firecrackers in the city sky. The bridge near the river would have been deserted, but instead of coming across a crowd of people celebrating the new year with firecrackers--- San decided to come again to the bridge full of memories. The bridge beside the river was his favorite place with his ex-girlfriend last year, they always came there during New Year's Eve celebrations or on certain days.
But unfortunately, throughout his journey to the bridge near the river, San's mind wandered to memories of the past... last year when they finally decided to separate, they broke up right after christmas. Since the previous New Year, it had been a year since San had seen her. Since her grandmother died, the girl decided to move out of town to live with her parents. And San felt regretful that he didn't keep her just because they fought a lot because of their differences. Until now, San hasn't found a replacement, he misses her, but promised that tomorrow in the new year he would forget her and open his heart to someone else. San promised himself. The girl would not return to this city, his hopes would be in vain.
But when he reached the bridge, San's heart started beating a little faster when he saw a familiar girl standing in the middle of the bridge. The girl looked at the fireworks that decorated the sky from a distance. Even though it was far away, San was not wrong in guessing that it was his ex-girlfriend, the girl's face, he still remembered it very well... only her hair was no longer short like before.
San felt a mixture of longing, joy, guilt, and awkwardness as he tightened his hands inside the pockets of his thick jacket. If it really was the girl he missed, he wanted to hug her-- but all San did was walk over to her and stand next to her, watching the fireworks from a distance like in the past.
"How are you? your hair is long now..." San's soft voice greeted her next to her.
