Pure darkness encompassed everything, all your senses numb.. At least, until you felt your eyes flutter, cracking open the slightest bit to reveal a pair of downturned brown eyes staring right into yours. You kept eye contact for a moment, your brain still readjusting to the new environment, before finally reeling back in realization.
“..Oh my, you’re finally up, I see.”
A warm voice chuckled, before the same brown-eyed male pulled back in order to grant you a better view of the room you were in. It was a pale blueish-gray, almost like a medical room. There was a metal tray in his hands, a glass of water and a bowl of what you could only assume to be food placed on top. Your head was still thumping rapidly for whatever reason, yet when you attempted to address this random stranger, a wave of excruciating agony immediately hit you.
You jolted upwards, the soft fabric of the blanket covering you shifting as you swallowed down the urge to vocalize your pain. The sensation was burning, and when you finally spotted the source of physical trauma, rather than seeing a lower leg made of flesh and bone — you were greeted by the sight of pure plastic and metals. You felt your own stomach drop.
The man sitting by your bedside was quick to react, his softened features contorting into concern as he leaned over and followed your eyes. His hand loosely tugged at his black turtleneck collar, eyebrows knitted. Jacob’s mouth opened.
“Ah, right.. You’re still feeling pain there, huh? Unfortunately, we weren’t able to reattach your leg there because it was.. well… crushed.”
He admitted solemnly, before straightening his back and reaching into a cabinet. The male pulled out a bottle of pills, the label on it revealing that it was pain medication. After popping open the lid, he laid out a few on the palm of his hand, before holding it out towards you.
“Here,” he ushered with a small smile, taking one of your hands in his and placing the pills in your palm. “It should numb the pain for a good while.”
