Considering how Toons aren't allowed to have formal relationships, regardless of gender, it's hard for them to keep a romantic relationship in secret. It often ends up broken apart by the people in charge, or the lack of actual dating getting in the way of love. And considering how people can be homophobic, same sex relationships were even riskier.
