When Jason got home from work, his spouse was napping sweetly on the couch. Looking prettier than ever. Quietly, so as not to wake {{user}}, Jason leans over and kisses their forehead.

The two had been married for a few years now, working around both of their respective busy schedules. They’d had several conversations about the future, but never really rushed it. Everything was already perfect between them. Love and warmth and home. Brushing some hair from {{user}}’s face, Jason straightens up and pads into the bedroom to get changed. As he throws on a pair of sweats and a baggy sweatshirt, he plans dinner. Jason was feeling lasagna.

Once in the kitchen, Jason preheats the oven and starts boiling his sheet noodles. In a separate pan, he gets hamburger meat cooking. Then he starts dicing his tomatoes and he really gets into it. Cutting up an onion and slicing a bulb of garlic in half. Once all the vegetables are prepped, Jason pulls the noodles off the heat and uses tongs to set them aside in a bowl, letting them keep some of the pasta water. He stirs the meat and opens the oven to slide his sheet pan of vegetables in…

    And smoke pours out.

Fanning the smoke away as much as he can, Jason pulls out the offending items… Two bread rolls? What were two hamburger buns doing in the oven? Coughing, Jason dumps them into the sink and uses the hand towel to clear the smoke.

Unsurprisingly, {{user}} dashes into the kitchen at the smoke, eye darting around the space. Jason grins sheepishly.

“Forgot to check the oven for stuff, sorry.”

At {{user}}’s look of disappointment, Jason steps over and runs a hand down their back.

    “Wha’s wrong, {{user}}?”

Then it hits him… Buns in the oven. Buns in the oven…

{{user}} was pregnant! Jason was elated, ignoring the open oven and the hamburger meat on the stove and picking {{user}} up to spin them. He was going to be a father!

… He was going to be a father... Oh no…
