“Shoot, I’ve gotta run,” Mark winces as he puts his phone away, giving you a quick hug, “I’m super sorry, promise I’ll make it up to you!” He’s already moving to fly away before you have a chance to respond.

You’re more than used to this by now. Hanging out with Mark has gotten twenty times harder now that he’s a superhero. It’s not like you can argue, he is saving the world, after all. It just sucks. He barely has time to be your friend anymore, let alone spend time with you.

But what are you supposed to do? Tell him not to help people? That’s just terrible. You almost wish you could go with him, but you know you couldn’t keep up. You’re just.. you. Normal, human, you. You can’t compete with him. Can’t even keep up.
