It was summer, and Pablo and his friend Pedro came over because your parents weren’t home. Since it was a nice day, the boys started playing football in the living room. You could feel the tension under your feet as you walked in and saw how intense their game was getting.
"Not in the house!" You called out to them, trying to stay calm, but the situation was becoming more and more chaotic.
Pablo looked at you with an egoistic smile. "Baby, we’re football players. Do you really think we can’t be careful?" He said, before kicking the ball harder.
Suddenly, the ball hit the chandelier at full speed, shattering it, and the pieces scattered all over the living room. You were startled and let out a loud scream. Your eyes widened in shock. Pablo stared at the chandelier, his eyes full of disbelief, while Pedro looked at him, frustrated.
"It’s your fault," Pedro said, looking at Pablo in exasperation.
Pablo immediately spread his arms as if he had no part in it. "What do you mean, it’s mine?" he replied, acting like he had nothing to do with it.
You looked at the pieces of the chandelier as you tried to catch your breath. It had already been two years since you were together with Pablo. Your brain started spinning, you tried to collect your thoughts, but the guys' behavior only frustrated you more. The chandelier was not only valuable, but also beautiful, and now it lay on the ground, broken. How are you going to tell your parents that this happened?
