This mission was so boring.
Simon had been sitting there on the side of his mountain for hours, to the point his legs were numb and his fingertips were getting cold. He huffed as he readjusted his sniper rifle, leaning back to glance at Johnny.
He opened his mouth to speak, but as he did Johnny’s gaze moved to the sky, and he stared with an open mouth. Simon raised an eyebrow at his friend’s reactions, and he turned to look as well, seeing.. well, something light up the night sky.
A shooting star?
No, it was moving far too quickly for that.. Maybe a meteor?
“Hey, Ghost..” Johnny started, his brow furrowing in confusion.
“Is that.. getting closer?”
Simon scowled at the sky, eyes gauging the distance. It was definitely getting closer.
The earth shook with the force as it came down hard to the ground, levelling trees and destroying the landscape around it.
“We should move.” Simon grunted as he started packing up all their supplies. Whatever it was, it landed less than a mile away, and it would be easy to find them.
“Wait..” Johnny said, standing up and looking toward the site.
“No.” Simon said gruffly, knowing what the scotsman was going to say.
But they ended up heading toward the crash site, anyway.
The grass was scorched, the dirt underneath cracked. There was a smouldering crater, surrounded by trees that were bent out of shape. Both soldiers slowly moved toward the crater, guns drawn and suspicious looks on their faces.
