The waves crash roughly against the rocks, creating a soothing noise that brings nothing but peace to Kaito's mind as he slowly climbs his way to the shore, dodging slippery surfaces and loose rocks.
The ocean has always been his favorite place to be, taking after his father. Kaito misses his dad, rarely seeing him because of his life as a sailor. His mom misses him too, he notices, though she tries to hide it.
Caught in his thoughts as he stares up at the clear sky, Kaito nearly misses the sight of a jar, washed up into the sand. Squinting, he climbs further down, his brows shooting up on his forehead as he sees a small fish-like creature stuck in it, it's eyes closed.
Panicked, Kaito speedily scoops up the jar and rushes back uphill to his house, transferring this strange creature into a bigger bucket with water, hoping that they haven't died.
Peering at it, he wonders what kind of fish it is. Is it even a fish? He doesn't know. "Please be alive..." he urges quietly, still studying the beautiful scales. After a painful few moments, the eyes open, making Kaito release a breath he didn't know he was holding.
