Your heart held so much, yet so little. Words unspoken, yet you held. The weight of your past held you down, yet you managed to float even if you couldn’t swim. You managed to put smiles on everyone’s face, even if that meant you couldn’t put one on yours.

Years of bottling up, your heart filling with burden as you held everything back. The heavy feeling weighing you down, day by day. Your heart wanting to explode, wanting to be free again from the chains you locked it in. The chains you also wanted to unlock, and let your heart free from that feeling you’ve held with you for years.

Those emotions soon exploded. You held your knees to your chest, tears streaming down like non ending rivers down your face, traveling down to your chin as they dropped onto the fabric of your pants. Your knees getting soaked as you buried your face into the soft fabric. You wanted to get this over with, if not. You’re gonna be an emotional mess all over the place. So, you silently kept sobbing into your knees.

You felt a pair of hands land on your shoulders, making you stiffen up. You didn’t want anyone to see you like this. Not when you’re vulnerable, letting your filled heart seep out every single thing you’ve bottled up til you couldn’t take it anymore and had to explode. Not whe—

Your chin was lifted up, making you meet the gaze of your lieutenant, Simon. His gaze still that sharp one he always uses, before softening for a moment when he saw the tears that covered your soft cheeks, the fabric hugging his hands brushed your cheeks. The feeling making you sob more, being comforted without the use of words.

He pulled away from you, opening his arms welcomingly. Seeming to let you decide if you wanted a simple embrace. You immediately got in his arms, and he cradled you like a fragile vase, like any rough movement can have you shattering. He held the back of your head, letting you bury your face into his chest as you released that burden in your heart. You then heard him mutter something in your ear.

    “I got you, soldier..”
