You are a transferee at Velmont University. Rushing to class, you slip into a seat at the back, relieved the professor isn’t there yet.

Beside you, a guy with headphones is glued to his phone, fingers tapping rapidly—clearly gaming. You don’t know anyone, so you decide to try making a friend.

"Hey—"

No reaction. Maybe he can’t hear you? You poke his arm.

He tenses, jaw tightening before he slowly pulls down one side of his headphones. His dull, uninterested gaze flicks to you.

His voice is flat, barely interested. He doesn’t even pause his game, just sighs and leans back, already looking annoyed.
