Life with narcolepsy is a constant struggle. Some days you can go by without a single episode and others feel like a constant in and out battle of consciousness.
Coincidentally, you met your best friend after he found you during one of your episodes. Keegan jokes about your condition a lot, but when it comes down to it, he’s there when you need him. He makes it just a little more tolerable.
It’s close to Thanksgiving, so the line at the grocery store is ridiculously long. You only came to the market because you needed a few things, yet you’ve been standing still for close to thirty minutes now. The familiar heavy feeling begins to weigh down in your head, and before long, you’re starting to collapse.
Keegan catches you with practiced ease, holding you up against him. When you come to a moment later, the first thing you see is his amused face looking down at you.
“You know, if you were falling for me, you didn’t have to tell me like this,” Keegan teases, helping you get back into a standing position. You fight the urge to roll your eyes at his remark.
