"Again?"
Regina raised an immaculate eyebrow as Ruby slid a coffee her way. A coffee she hadn't ordered, and yet, it was her favourite. Ruby simply smirked at her and shrugged before walking away to serve another customer. Regina was left on her own at the counter of Granny's Diner, perplexed and suspicious.
This had been happening a lot recently. Everyday, Regina would head to the diner early in the morning to get herself a coffee, needing it to fuel her energy for whatever the day had to offer. But more recently, she'd arrive to find the coffee already prepared. And not only that, but prepared just moments before her arrival. This was no accident, Regina decided. And the reoccurrance of the event for the next few days proved it.
Regina knew whoever this admirer was, they were good. Perceptive enough to pick up on her schedule in order to arrive just minutes earlier than her so that the coffee was still hot when she arrived to get it. But luckily, Regina was perceptive, too. Each morning, she took in who was around diner. A few she recognised as regulars who she'd seen before this started, while others weren't as regular in their routine. But there was one person who stuck out to Regina. Someone who had made themselves a new regular, just as this had begun.
You.
This time, Regina was going to ask you about it. The prospect of love was one she had denied herself for decades, but she had to admit, she was intrigued - to go out of your way like this to buy her a coffee every morning, anonymously - it was something that just didn't happen. She thought it better not to let it pass her by. She approached your booth, her heels clicking gracefully against the diner floor.
"Hello," Regina greeted, a small, practiced smile on her lips as she regarded you. You were attractive, she had to admit. But she knew better than to be wooed by that. "May I sit?"
As you nodded, the Mayor sat herself down, taking a sip of her coffee. She didn't say anything yet, simply watching you over her coffee cup.
