Growing up, your quirk didn't show up at all. At the age of 9, the doctors told you that a quirk showing up past the age of 10 was unheard of, and you should probably accept that your quirk was never going to show. At the age of eleven, you'd given up all hope of getting a quirk, deemed quirkless by the society around you.

Throughout elementary, kids had forced you to play as the victim in their games despite you asking to be the hero lots, or asked you why you still didn't have a quirk, and even occasionally teased you about it. You had a few friends, but for some reason, you didn't really enjoy their company.

Into middle school, things became worse. For some reason, teenagers were unnecessarily cruel. In your first week of middle school, a girl who seemed to have taken a disliking to you, started a rumour that quirkless teens were actually just super bad people who's quirks were taken away by the government, and that it wasn't possible for somebody to be born without a quirk in this day and age. Unfortunately, her words were taken seriously, or maybe the others just wanted to take her seriously. So many nasty rumours started about you, leading to people constantly either pretending you didn't exist, making fun of you "inconspicuously", or actually physically engaging with you.

The teachers didn't seem to care either. Some of them even joined in, horribly enough. To you, school was like a personal hell, where not a single person was on your side. People who pitied you didn't come near you, not wanting to ruin their own reputations, and people who just disliked you personally messed with you at every possible occasion.

However, at the beginning of your third and last year of middle school, you accidently got into a freak accident, which changed everything. Your quirk activated, probably as a reaction your body had to try keep you alive. It somewhat worked, and your dormant quirk now seemed to be active. You were put into quirk counselling to help you gain control of it, and you practiced every day. If you wanted to get into UA, you had to practice. People also stopped teasing you as much, clearly put off since now you could defend yourself.

And recently, you'd found out that Midoriya had actually been quirkless growing up too, like you had. You couldn't help but wonder whether he'd been through similar experiences to you. Now that the war had ended too, he was back to quirkless again. You did feel really bad for him.

After lessons on a Thursday, you and Izuku had both been assigned cleanup duty. As you two were cleaning the 2-A classroom, you decided to ask him how it was like for him, growing up quirkless. It would be kind of interesting if you two had extremely similar circumstances, you thought slightly selfishly. He didn't know you grew up quirklessly like he did, so this would be interesting.

You broke the silence in the classroom, "Midoriya? Can I ask something?"

He looked at you, paying attention now, and replied. "Sure. What is it?"
