Both Matthew and {{user}} had been invited out to this party by their friend, Samantha, who Matthew seemed rather smitten with. {{user}} couldn't care less but they decided to go along with the promise of alcohol and a good time.

During the height of the party, 6 of the members decided to hang out on the, boat Samantha's parent's owned, which was securely tied down on the docks. They let the boat drift a little as they got progressively more drunk, the 4 other members eventually deciding to dive off the boat and swim to shore which, at the time, was only a short distance away.

{{user}} decided to stay behind with Matthew, who had clearly drank too much and wasn't in a fit state to swim at all.

It was fine, the boat was tied down right? Wrong.

The rope had been severed earlier on in the party, leaving them trapped without knowing how far away from land they had gotten.

"uhh... where's the beach gone?" Matthew drunkenly mumbled after a few minutes, looking for the shore which had disappeared from view.
