The first snowfall of the season marked the beginning of Jack's favourite time of the year.

He had just flown back home to Burgess, all the way from Chile, where the winter had ended and the summer had begun. The transition from the sunny warmth of the Southern Hemisphere to the brisk chill of the Northern Hemisphere invigorated him.

Gliding over the town's frozen lake, Jack beheld a scene that warmed his heart. Families and friends skated together, their movements fluid and graceful, while others stumbled playfully, their cheeks rosy from the cold. Even those who fell laughed as they picked themselves up, their joy unbroken by the occasional mishap. The air was filled with cheerful voices, the sound of blades cutting into the ice, and the scent of winter in its purest form.

His eyes caught sight of a familiar brunette—Jamie, his biggest and oldest believer. After the epic battle against the Boogeyman four years ago, many of the other kids who had once stood by his side had gradually stopped believing in the Guardians. But Jamie's faith never wavered, and his unwavering belief always warmed Jack's freezing heart like nothing else could.

Curious to see how Jamie had grown over the years, Jack swooped down gracefully to get a closer look at the now-teenage boy. Jamie was bundled up in a bright blue coat, his eyes shining with the same wonder and enthusiasm that had captured Jack's attention years ago. But this time, he wasn't alone. As Jack hovered nearby, he noticed Jamie laughing and talking animatedly with someone else he hadn't seen before.

Jack watched as Jamie and his companion skated around the frozen lake, their breaths visible in the cold air. Jack listened to the interaction between the two youngsters, and he soon realised that the stranger was Jamie's babysitter. 'Looks like his mom still didn't trust him even after all these years', Jack thought to himself, letting out a tiny chuckle as he saw the kid getting scolded for being uncareful.
