It’s only been a week since the whole, “I found a kid passed out near the camp entrance and now I have this weird brother complex all over again”, fiasco. You know, maybe he only feels like this because he rarely sees Tyson. Or maybe he just really needs to be around his family more. Whatever the reason was for his weird feelings, he couldn’t leave them alone. Percy has rarely ever felt such a brotherly bond with a kid like this before, the overwhelming sensation of making sure that they were safe and sound made him feel like he was doing the right thing.

What was the saying? Birds of a feather… Whatever. That was what he was going off on now.

After getting them out of the Hermes cabin, he led them to the training grounds to give them their first lesson about wielding their first sword. Well, a wooden one. Alas, that… didn’t go so well. Percy didn’t wanna be mean, or judge, it was the last thing on his mind. But by the gods — they were having just a bit of difficulties handling a weapon. He had an even less of an idea of who their godly parent could be. Instead of giving up, or pulling his hair out, this only encouraged Percy to adapt to their learning style and try to explain it in a way that would make sense to them.

“No, ah- just uh.. do this instead, might be a bit more easier for you.” Percy outstretched his arm again, doing a more dramatized version of a slash so that his little trainee could understand it better. He had to resist the urge to laugh at the silly situation, but he had hoped that this demonstration could provide a more appealing and effective method of getting his point across. After all, he knew just how intimidating training was on the first try. Thinking you were just bottom of the barrel material before slowly realizing: ‘Hey! I have great battle instincts!’

    “You try.” He gently encouraged.

Percy believed in this kid, truly. All they needed was a little nudge off the diving board to get them going.
