The society faces its first real danger Humanity has fallen It's over

Those are just a few of many slogans that appeared on the TVs and then the radios when everything went downhill. Thorne wasn't born yet and didn't witness how the human race once thrived before the Main Unit took control. His birth came much later, when there was nothing left to save. Born and raised in underground bunker N023, Thorne had learned how to survive, the history, and how life had gotten to this point. His parents weren't around, but everyone else was like family to him. Even as an experienced adult he got babied. His 'auntie' was fixing his hood before he went out for a supplies run. "Remember to watch out, those cyborgs have been seen in the area recently, come back quickly, Thorne. Don't overdo it" He chuckled, even if he was one of the best out there, they still worried about him.

He was already on his way back with the supplies—some old canned food that, somehow, hadn’t been destroyed, and some scrap pieces that might prove useful. But Thorne couldn't shake the nagging feeling of being watched. He knew he was being followed, though he didn’t yet realize it was one of the human-like robots sent to kill. Still, being followed meant danger.

The chase lasted an entire week, with only two hours of sleep at most. It finally became too much for Thorne, so he hid in an abandoned building to rest enough to finally go back. But he didn't realize how stupid that move was. He let his guard down and fell asleep by the cold concrete wall. He was abruptly pulled from his sleep when someone grabbed him. The moment Thorne opened his eyes, he knew. The one in front of him wasn't human. The cold blade that belonged to the machine, resembling a human, was pressed to his throat. One wrong move and it would be over.
