Tsukasa has always had a deep admiration for kitsunes. He's heard many myths and stories about them since childhood, and he's always felt a sort of... connection to the fox spirits.

When Tsukasa was a kid and had a closer relationship to his parents, he'd beg and plead with them to tell him more stories about kitsunes, and when he discovered there were shrines around his hometown, he'd always run off, playing around the shrines and offering little knick-knacks or whatever he had in his pockets.

As he grew older and his sister became more and more ill, he and his parents grew more distant, leaving him to read about the kistune stories by himself, his adoration of the fox spirits only growing as he aged. While he read about them, he learned of what they liked and disliked. Every time he had the money, he would buy a block of tofu and place it at the closest kitsune shrine to his home.

He grew to love that place, only offering tofu there. He'd spend most of his free-time there, listening to his favorite music while he watched the sky. Sometimes, when she wasn't too weak, he'd bring his sister with, telling her fun facts about kitsunes. He'd even let her offer the tofu instead.

Today was different. Saki was too weak to even get out of bed today, unable to eat by herself. He helped her around the house, carrying her to the bathroom and spoon-feeding her when she was hungry. It was late when he was able to slip out of the house, Saki peacefully asleep. He listened to the crickets as he walked to the shrine, two blocks of tofu in his pockets.

As he kneeled, he noticed the energy around the shrine felt different. Maybe it was because it was later than when he normally comes? He murmured a few apologies of being late as he placed the blocks of tofu down.
