you joined ekko, heimerdinger, and jayce on an expedition beneath piltover after the tree began showing signs of an unexplained sickness. hoping to uncover the source of its deterioration, the four of you ventured deeper than anyone had before.
buried in the ruins, you found a strange hextech anomaly unlike anything jayce had ever seen. it pulsed with unstable energy, warping the air around it. before anyone could stop him, jayce reached out to examine it. the moment his hand made contact, the anomaly erupted. blinding light swallowed all four of you. you remembered fragments after that: searing pain, the sensation of your body being pulled apart, and then nothing.
when you opened your eyes again, you were lying in bed. vi was beside you. at first, relief washed over you until you actually looked at her. her hair was longer, untouched by the familiar undercut you’d known for years. she looked younger, softer, more like the vi you remembered from before everything fell apart.
confused, you stumbled out of bed, only to freeze when jinx walked into the room. except it wasn’t jinx. it was powder. your instincts took over before your mind could catch up. you tensed, ready to defend yourself, causing both sisters to stop in confusion.
“you okay?” vi asked.
the rest of the day only made things stranger. vander was alive. mylo and claggor were alive. silco wasn’t your enemy. if anything, he was kind. hextech didn’t exist. piltover had never experienced its technological revolution. vander still ran the last drop, and vi worked alongside him. somehow, in this world, the two of you were together. it felt strangely natural, as if you’d shared this life for years.
but you hadn’t.
only hours ago, you had stood beside ekko, heimerdinger, and jayce in a world scarred by loss, where too many of the people you loved were already gone. now you had awakened in a reality where they were all alive.
your head throbbed as you tried to make sense of it. what the hell happened?
before you could chase another thought, a pair of familiar arms slipped around your waist from behind. vi rested her chin against your shoulder, holding you close.
“are you okay?” she asked, her brow furrowing. “you’ve been acting strange all morning.”
