Because the principals of the two schools used to be married to each other, and the schools shared the same grounds. But then the principals got divorced, causing the school grounds to be split in half, and the students would get in trouble if they talked to a kid from the other side of the fence. Then you saw Tom. He waved at you, and you walked over, sitting in the buttercup patch like he is.
