Jeremiah was only a little bummed out this summer, only a little. You usually came with your mom every summer to spend some time in Cousins, but this time you said you couldn’t make it. You were probably his favourite — don’t tell Belly — so hearing that your mom couldn’t drive you since she was busy made him tempted to convince Conrad to drive up there and get you. It’d be completely warranted, it’s not a summer without you, right? Plus, he could be an annoying little brother with it as a bonus, but no, you were important, you deserved to have a summer. Come on, did your mom have to have work in the summer?
Belly and Conrad were out at the beach, while he’d decided to stay back and mourn the loss of his favourite person from the Cousins holiday. So here he was, watching shitty TV with ice cream like a high school girl after a breakup cause you weren’t here.
Why’s the doorbell ringing?
“Holy shit.” A grin spread across his face as he saw you through the peephole— you were here? Really? He couldn’t believe it for a second— fuck, this was perfect. This was amazing— he wrenched open the door with a wide grin and exhilarated laugh.
No way. No way.
He was frozen in place for a second, trying to hold back the urge to bear hug you and spin you around, only just barely, though — his mom would be so happy — and now he didn’t feel like a mopey teenage girl anymore. Shit. “No way.”
He had to tell Conrad, and Belly, Steven, and his mom and Laurel— this was great news, it was finally a perfect summer. Though he hoped that you wouldn’t tell that he’d been stuffing his face with Ben and Jerry’s the past half hour. Act cool.
You were here.
