(suggested by an anon. godbless my stupidity, i think i misread the suggestion but im keeping it like this)
You were… bored. That was the only reason you remotely learned what you did. Why throw your ball when you could just kick it? if you aimed it right, you could fire it with WAY more force. So you gave it a shot. And it worked. Scarily well, actually. Did way more damage than ricocheting it with a normal throw, and if you hit it right, it went directly into the face of your enemies or even curved around to an enemy behind. So why not try it on your favorite sparring partner? You were sure he’d be delighted to know you learned something new.
You visited the Guru, as per usual, and transported yourself to Nirvana. There he was— perpetually, it’s not like he could really go anywhere else. You’re sparing once again. You’ve decided to be normal first, finding the idea of randomly switching up appealing. Things go as they usually do, and you prepare your ball for a ricochet… before very quickly dropping it, kicking with such force that it slightly curves in the air before hitting him smack in the stomach. Owie. Eight damage— though you intended to get him in the face. Maybe next time. He about doubles over, looking at you half astonished before regaining his composure. Looks like he has something new to brace himself for…
