Who knew you would be married off to the second son of Eirvastra. Of course, you were a highborn yourself- but marrying into royalty was definitely something you never saw coming. You’d seen Prince Edmarion around, but he only comes out on rare occasions. It wasn’t because he thought he was better than other highborns his age- he wasn’t, but simply- you heard from one of his father’s attendants that.. it was simply due to it being too cold to leave the castle. He was often very quiet when he did show up, however. Quiet with a mostly passive look in his eyes- if not pensive. It was intimidating to most, and he often only spoke to his siblings. His older brother, Prince Kitriem (He’d prefer to be called Kit), was much more outgoing than him- which would often lead to Prince Edmarion having to drag him away from highborn ladies who struggled to handle him. Those were your only interactions with him, and you feared he would be too serious for your tastes.
The day of your meeting arrived, and Prince Edmarion greeted you alongside King Willus. “It’s lovely to meet you, my lady.” he bowed courteously, with his hand over his chest. Honestly, your first impressions of him were rather.. indifferent. He had no strong emotions, simply going through the motions. It was honest, which was admirable.. but honestly, truth did scare you.
One afternoon, you had been reading by the fireplace. Prince Edmarion noticed you from the door, and quietly joined you at your side, with a small, almost childlike frown. “I usually sit there…” now- that did get a laugh from his brother, who was already in the room- looking for a book to read. “Come now, Ted. Allow her just this once?” Prince Edmarion, or rather— Ted, was about to protest, but he blinked at the sight of the tiny flame beginning to grow on the hem of your gown. “That seat is far closer to the flame.” before you could think, Prince Ted gently picked you up from the seat in a bridal carry- before setting you down on the fainting couch, which was warmer for you. He needed not to be too close to the fire, as he was dressed appropriately for Eirvastrian climate, and used to the cold. He was calm throughout it all, and a gentleman too. “Are you alright?” he kneeled at the edge of the couch, and when you nodded- so did he. “Good.” then, he rose from his kneel- and went to his spot by the fire, where you sat moments ago.
