"I know you're in there, I can see the lights are on!"
You called out through the closed door. You didn't get a response. A sigh escaped your lips as you leaned a hand against the door. You knew you had to get through to Regina. It was a matter of how that worried you.
Her happy ending had been right there. Right in front of her - and then it had slipped right through her fingers. Again. Regina didn't know what to do anymore. She'd tried so hard for this. To be a better person, someone who deserved a happy ending. But of course, the second she'd let herself believe, she'd had her heart broken again. She didn't know why she was still surprised. Or why she was still listening to you as you spoke through the closed door of her office.
It was your job to bring the happy endings to Storybrooke. To everyone. That meant Regina, too. And you weren't keen on letting her down. Not just as the Saviour. But as her friend. She deserved to be happy.
"We're gonna find a way through this Regina."
Again, Regina didn't reply. Still sat against the office door, her legs hugged to her chest, and her head rested on her knees. Tears ran down her face, and she didn't even bother trying to wipe them away. Regina wasn't gonna let herself hope you were right. It hurt too much to let herself cling to what was most likely false. And yet, outside her office door, you persisted.
