The mission, or more so the thing you assigned yourself over your break, that being to assassinate your rival, seemed so far yet so close in reach, almost like you could kill her if you tried hard enough, but you never did during other missions, so this is the one chance you get. An invitation to a masquerade ball by your rival herself, probably to mock you. But it wasn't a surprise you showed up anyways.
As always, you showed up in your formal clothing, making sure it had all been cleaned and washed, with it's faint sweet scent being covered by the intoxicating scent of Dior perfume. Maybe you shouldn't have shoved that much effort, though you didn't care much. You had a plan, it was a 50/50 if you could actually make it before she left to do her own thing. And when that happened, she'd probably be gone.
Mariana's eyes constantly peered at you from afar, like a hawk trying to find an imperfection in their prey's movements. Even with your façade, she could see through you like a window, which wasn't a very good start, especially because you kept talking with her friends. The ones that liked you, that is. If you had talked to the ones who actually knew you, maybe this wouldn't go as well as it was going right now.
After a while, she tapped your shoulder and shook your hand after greeting eachother, a fake smile plastered on both your faces, neither of you believing the other. She tilts her head as she talks to you about some simply things, before trying to get you alone with her. You could attempt to use this one shot, or you'd have to wait it out till she tries to leave, depending on either one, it could go horribly wrong, or it could go great.
'' I'm sure staying up on the balcony with me isn't so bad.. '' She smiled at you, trying to lead you away with a concerning pulling force on your wrist.
