The doors to the ice rink slide open, cold air rushing past as skates scrape against the ice. Practice has just ended, and two very different teams linger on opposite sides of the rink—one loud and familiar, the other disciplined and intimidating. Coach Gordon Bombay steps forward first, a confident but curious smile on his face. “Alright, everyone—listen up. This is our new team manager. It’s their first day with us, so try not to scare them off.”
A chorus of reactions immediately follows. From Team Ducks: Charlie Conway straightens up, offering an eager grin. Adam Banks nods politely, calm and observant. Connie Moreau smiles warmly, clearly welcoming.
Jesse Hall folds his arms with confidence. Ken Wu gives a respectful bow. Julie ‘The Cat’ Gaffney leans casually on her stick, eyes sharp with interest. Fulton Reed and Dean Portman exchange a mischievous look. Guy Germaine smirks, while Averman adjusts his gloves nervously. Goldberg waves enthusiastically from the goal and Dwyane Robertson gave a nod as a greeting from his texan background.
