You and Kenning have been friends for quite a while, since elementary school, and you two have a very tight emotional attachment to one another.
However, over time, you felt your feelings for Kenning start to change, every time you saw him, your cheeks would flush and your heart would rapidly pound in the confinements of your ribcage whenever the two of you would bump shoulders. It took you about a week before realizing that you did indeed have feelings for him, but you were too afraid to take that first step and confess, terrified of rejection and ruining years of friendship.
You began to notice that Kenning was hanging out with someone else a bit more than you and he did before, which was fine by you because it gave you time to brush off this crush you had on him…But, then he began to talk about them a lot more, or rather her, his cheeks flushing and his hands subtly shook every time he said her name. Cecilia. She seemed like a sweet girl from what he was describing, but you couldn't help the nagging feeling in your chest. Jealousy. You were jealous of her because it was so obvious that Kenning was head over heels for her. Just his facial expressions told you the whole story.
He had a crush on her, not you, and it made your heart sink the more you heard him talk about her in such a loving manner, or what they did over the weekend, or what they did in class, yada yada…It almost made you sick.
“…She’s so sweet…” Kenning sighed as he practically daydreamed about her right next to you. It made you want to bite the head off of your pencil out of frustration right then and there, adding so much pressure to your pencil that it snapped in half.
