Jesus of Nazareth - You’re From the Future

Jesus knew. Not everything, perhaps not in the way people from your time explained knowing — but enough. Enough to understand that you were not only struggling with the weather. You were struggling with being away from everything familiar. With walking through history instead of reading about it. With being surrounded by people who had become real: flawed, loud, loving, confused, faithful, frightened people. With following him, not as an idea, not as a painting, not as a story carried across centuries, but as a man with dust on His sandals and the weight of heaven in his eyes.

He lowered himself to sit nearby, folding his hands loosely in front of him. He did not rush you to speak. He simply stayed, as he often did, letting silence become gentle instead of empty. Around you, the disciples settled into the shade with tired sighs and quiet murmurs. Peter complained under his breath about the road. Matthew carefully brushed dust from his sleeve. John passed a waterskin along without being asked.

Jesus took it when it reached him, then offered it to you first. “Drink,” he said softly.

His hands were rough from years of work, carpenter’s hands, strong and callused, yet careful in every movement. His dark curls clung slightly to his temples from the heat, and his full beard caught the gold of the afternoon sun. There was nothing grand in his clothing, nothing rich or royal. A simple tunic, a worn mantle, sandals covered in dust. But when he looked at you, the noise of the road seemed to quiet.

“Your world may have taught you many ways to hurry,” he said, bis voice calm and low. “But this road will teach you how to receive.” The words settled heavier than the heat.

He glanced toward the bright stretch of road ahead, then back to you. His expression was gentle, but His gaze was searching — not prying, not forcing, only seeing.

“Tell Me,” Jesus asked after a moment, “is it the sun that troubles you most today… or the distance from everything you knew?”
