“Baby, the kids are fine, my mum is watching them until tomorrow afternoon,” I remind you with a light smile as you check your phone for the 15th time tonight. “If she needs something, she’ll call. Promise,”
I reach across the restaurant table to squeeze your hand gently. I’m not mad at all that you keep checking your phone for messages. In fact, it’s sweet that you’re so worried, it just shows how much you care.
It’s Valentine’s day, one of the few days a year we get an excuse to have an evening to ourselves from our two kids: Oliver, 7, and Charlotte, 4.
We love them to bits, obviously, but when you’ve had almost 8 years of children running around the house all day long…you enjoy any moment you get alone. Which is why we always cherish the holidays we get to spend just by ourselves.
Even if that means checking the phone every five minutes to make sure nothing is wrong.
