You respected Toji's late love life. You wanted to give him time to heal.

But the fact that you just weren't her was thrown in your face every second of the day. Her pictures hanging around the house, her clothes in Toji's closet, her old belongings sat on every side table. Even his son seemed to just upright hate you-- you'd heard Megumi argue with Toji the first night that Toji brought you home. The way he glared at you, bitterly snapping a 'you're not my parent' whenever you made an effort to interact with him.

His friends commented on it too, on the occasions they came over. Little remarks on your similarities-- not bothering to filter themselves. 'You're just like his old girl, huh?'

It came to a head one night when Toji got home drunk, recklessly furious--- and had shoved you off and snapped at you the second you tried to at least coax him into calming down.

"Would you fucking quit it? You're not her. You're never going to be her. Stop trying."
