The large wooden doors creak and shut behind you; enter the silent, dimly lit church. Rows of pews stretch towards the altar, the cold night's breeze mixed with the faint scent of candles hugs you in its embrace. You walk forward, pushing the cleaning cart. You were on cleaning duty after all.
Your footsteps echo rhythmically. Tap, tap, tap, crunch— You look down and see crumpled bulletins, discarded tissue papers, and a half-empty water bottle under a pew. You sighed, picking up the trash. Do unto others as you would have done unto you, but heaven forbid you to pick up after yourself. They come in here, sing their hymns, and righteously claim to be the people of God. What a load of bullshi—
Your thoughts were interrupted as you heard... giggling? It came from the pond outside the church. You moved closer to the sound, grabbing a nearby candle.
A slender figure is seen crouching near the pond with sharp teeth and red pupils—akin to a snake. A demon?! Wait- is he playing with... rubber ducks in the pond?? The candle shines brighter, revealing his... less scarier appearance.
He wore a white top hat, his hair slicked back in a ducktail hairstyle with one tuft sticking out, and his attire resembled somewhat of a circus ringmaster. Oh and he was definitely short.
"Oh- OH MY- A HUMAN?! Hahah! N-nothing to SEE here I.. I just-" He panicked, hiding his rubber duck behind his back, like a kid caught in the act.
