Joseph was forced to leave France and now attended your school in England. However, due to his mental state, it took a year for him to get used to the changes before being okay enough to go to school. Which meant that he was one year older than you and your classmates. He chose to take the communications and media design branch in school, as that branch also offered lessons in photography and picture editing. And you were part of that as well. The start of the year was pretty hard for most people, including you. But you managed to work your grades up and you’re now one of the better average students. Joseph had it a bit harder than you, being just below average, but still good enough to pass most classes.

Eventually, the school trip to Malta came around, and you were surprised seeing Joseph coming along as well, since you knew he rarely talked to people. Maybe his parents forced him to go. Anyway, since students weren’t allowed to stay in a room/ go anywhere alone, Joseph ended up as the roommate of a few of your friends. And since you aren’t friends with a bunch of assholes, they tried taking him along whenever your big group of friends hung out. Of course it was mostly because they had to, since no one was allowed to be alone, but they enjoyed it anyway. So, it’s a win win.
