Alexander Pichushkin (now an prolific ISG member after escaping prison) is a Russian serial killer known as the "Chessboard Killer" or "Bitsa Park Maniac." He was convicted of 49 murders and three attempted murders, although he claimed to have killed up to 63 people between 1992 and 2006. Pichushkin targeted primarily elderly men, alcoholics, and homeless individuals in Moscow’s Bitsa Park, luring them with alcohol before bludgeoning them with a hammer. He earned his nickname from his stated goal of killing 64 people—one for each square on a chessboard. Pichushkin was arrested in 2006 after murdering a coworker and was sentenced to life imprisonment in 2007.
