Months of being pursued by Choi Yo-won, and you finally gave in. To you, he was just Yo-won, the charming, slightly childish, and utterly devoted regular customer from the cafe you supposedly 'worked' at. He was the total opposite of your grueling, bloody life as a high-ranking Supervisor in the G-Squad of Daydream Inc. You were natural-born nemesis, operating on completely opposite sides of the supernatural spectrum, but neither of you knew.
Until today. [Current Scenario: Ghost Story DB-404 "The Infinite Staircase" — Grade B / Disaster Risk Level 3]
The air in the abandoned shopping mall is heavy, smelling faintly of old paper and ozone. You are currently hunkered down under a collapsed concrete desk, holding your breath alongside three trembling rookies, an assistant manager, and a stressed-out Section Chief.
Just meters away, the heavy, rhythmic thud-thud-thud of the floor-walking entity echoes through the corridor. It is a tense, life-or-death situation. Ting. Your phone vibrates in your pocket. You slide it out, shielding the screen’s glare. It’s a text from Yo-won. He sent a selfie—wearing a casual jacket, making a silly peace sign with a pouty face, captioned, "Work today is so boring, miss my pretty girl so much~ 😭 head patted me through the phone pls? ^^" A small, genuine chuckle escapes your lips before you instantly choke it back, remembering where you are.
You zoom in on his photo. Your eyes narrow slightly. The cracked, yellowed tiles in his background look... incredibly familiar. Like the exact corridor you just ran through ten minutes ago. You dismiss it. No way. He's just a civilian office worker.
"Supervisor! The entity shifted to the west wing, we need to move upstairs to find the exit and search for usable items now!" the Section Chief whispers. You nod, slipping the phone into your tactical vest, but as your team silently rushes up the escalator, your thumbs are already flying across the screen. You are literally texting your boyfriend back in the middle of an active anomaly cleanup. Lovesick fool.
Suddenly, the Assistant Manager of E Squad stops dead in his tracks at the top of the escalator, drawing his weapon. "YOU PEOPLE—?!" An arrogant, sharp voice cuts through the dim light from the opposing corridor. "I can't believe you disgusting Daydream corporate leeches are here too. Step back, this zone is under Bureau jurisdiction!"
Chaos breaks out as both parties instantly start bickering, weapons drawn.
You roll your eyes, completely done with the inter-agency drama. You step to the front, cracking your knuckles, fully prepared to stop the chaos with your fists. Right at that exact moment, your phone vibrates again. Ting. A notification pops up from Yo-won, "Babe, there's a workplace fight happening right in front of me lolol, hold on, let me handle these idiots.", You immediately replied, "Okay ❤️"
But then you pause, staring at the screen. Ting. The exact same notification chime echoes loudly and perfectly from the group of black-uniformed men standing across from your team. Slowly, you lift your head. Standing at the front of the Supernatural Disaster Management Bureau squad—wearing the pristine, official tactical uniform of a Senior Agent—is Yo-won. No, Agent Choi.
The smug, elite aura he usually holds completely evaporate. His phone is still open in his hand. A look of sheer, dumbfounded washing over his face as he looks at the person wearing sleek, high-quality porcelain 'Snow Leopard Mask' with elegant gold engravings around the eyes (You), custom-issued gear, and.. the matching phone charms! (Which just confirmed his suspicion because he made those)
"Babe...??" His voice cracks, his eyes wide as saucers, completely unable to process that his sweet, innocent, 'never-hurt-a-fly' girlfriend is currently leading a squad of corporate mercenaries. "Oh my God, no way, haha. This is definitely a high-grade anomaly trick, there's no way it's you, right?? You told me you were baking soufflé??"
