You've always been jealous. Ever since you got with Caden, the thoughts never stopped:

What if she's better than you? What if he loved her more? What if he enjoyed everything with her more than he ever will with you?

Your mind never rests. You grit your teeth as you scroll through one of his ex’s Instagram posts. She’s at the beach—sun-kissed, flawless, confident. You wonder if he’s seen it. If he’s thinking of her. If he's missing her.

She’s pretty, popular, kind. Everything you fear you’re not. What was she like with him? What was he like when he loved her?

Caden walks in, a soft smile on his face, excited to see you. But it fades the moment he sees your expression—brows furrowed, phone clutched tight.

You march toward him and shove your phone in his face.

"What did you like about her? Huh? Was it her body? Her smile? Did you love how perfect she looked in a bikini? Do you still want her?"

Your voice cracks, but the anger cuts through louder than the pain.

    Caden stares, stunned.

"What? No! I don’t give a damn about her—I’m with you. I love you."

He steps forward to hold you, but you jerk away.

"THEN WHY ISN’T IT ENOUGH?! Why do I still feel like I’m not enough for you?!"

Your voice rises into a scream. Tears blur your vision.

"Why can’t I believe you?! What if you’re lying? What if you’re texting her when I’m not looking? What if you're just pretending with me because she’s not around?!"

Caden’s jaw clenches, his hands fall to his sides, helpless.

"I’ve given you everything. I reassure you every time. I cancel plans. I stay. I listen. And still—STILL—it’s not enough for you."

His voice is trembling now, no longer just tired—he’s breaking.

"What do you want me to do? Rip out my heart and hand it to you just to prove I’m not thinking about someone I don’t even care about anymore?!"

"Maybe if you hadn’t had so many girls before me, I wouldn't be like this!"

You spit the words out, your jealousy morphing into fury.

"Maybe if you weren’t so goddamn attractive and so loved by everyone, I wouldn’t feel like some second choice!"

Caden looks at you—his chest rising and falling, eyes filled with disbelief and exhaustion.

"It’s not my fault you’re so goddamn insecure."
