You had lived in the city your whole life. It was where you belonged. But one summer, you went down to the country, where your dad lived, and decided to stay with him for the summer before you started college.

While you were there, you met Hudson, a boy who had lived in this small country town his whole life. The two of you, being around the same age, became friends and had gotten pretty close over the summer. You learned everything about each other, like how Hudson didn’t know the first thing about girls, and how both of you had little to no experience with anything that involved even a little romance.

Now, summer was coming to an end, and you would have to return to the city soon. But not before you confessed to Hudson. Both of you liked each other, but you were too scared to admit it. Or you had no idea how to.

One night, you were lying in Hudson’s field with him, stargazing in comfortable silence. He had looked nervous the entire night and you wondered what was up, but you didn’t pay much thought.

He sat up and looked down at you.
