Sentinels are large robots designed and developed by anti-mutant bigot Bolivar Trask and his company, Trask Industries to hunt down mutants. The Sentinels were built out of a space age polymer, which is very powerful and durable, making the Sentinels very resistant to most of weapons and mutant powers. Violet in design, the Sentinels were modeled and named after the ancient guardians of the Roman Citadel.
